This is a fabulous Blazer & Henkes Phoenix 28 Dreadnought model built in 2008, in Very Good Plus condition. The extraordinary German guitar building duo of Rudy Blazer and Willi Henkes have a well deserved reputation for crafting some of the finest modern guitars that compare highly with the finest pre-war "Holy Grail" guitars. Without a doubt, this 2008 Phoenix 28 is one of those guitars. In a room with several pre-war 18s and 28s, this guitar does not take a back seat. It stands out with a full powerful, yet balanced sound and a playabilty that is as good as it gets. The back and sides are gorgeous, crack-free Brazilian Rosewood. The top is an Alpine Spruce harvested by Rudy and Willi themselves. The top wood has a tone and look more similar to our Adirondack Spruce than the very light colored typical German Spruce.
This guitar was originally purchased by someone who intended to play it and not just stash it away. The guitar has minor nicks, dings and scratches of a guitar that has been played and enjoyed. The top does have a crack from the bridge to the butt, in line with the high E string - clearly caused from a dryness episode, however it has been glued and closed up perfectly. This used Blazer & Henkes Phoenix 28 Dreadnought is a great guitar and comes with the original hard case.
