Preparation
For best results always ensure the surface you will be applying Craig & Rose Copper Effect Paint to are thoroughly prepared.
- Fill any cracks or holes in the surface using a suitable filler such as a and sand to a smooth surface.
- Lightly abrade surfaces previously painted with silk, satin or glossy paints.
- Pare or porous surfaces will require sealing with .
Application
We recommend performing a practice of the copper effect paint to ensure you are happy with the finished results, try it out on a piece of cardboard or another matt surface.
- Ensure to mask off any surrounding surfaces with a good-quality masking tape.
- Use a high-quality synthetic brush to apply the copper effect paint to the edges of the wall.
- Apply the first full coat with a medium pile roller in light even pressured strokes, taking the roller as close to the edge as possible.
- Allow to dry for 12 hours and apply the second coat with the roller.
- Whilst the paint is still wet drag a brush across the surface in the required pattern, ensuring to overlap all the brush marks for an even finish.
- The paint will be surface dry in 2-4 hours.
- In exterior conditions due to the copper elements in the paint it will weather naturally.
Copper Patina Effect
- The Patina solution must be applied after 45 -75 minutes of the final coat of paint, do not leave the paint to fully dry.
- Apply 2 coats of Artisan Copper Patina by brush or with a muslin cloth, working in a random pattern.
- To increase the intensity of the green effect add another coat.
- The effect will begin to show within hours and will continue to develop for 12 hours.
- Recoat time is 4 hours.
- Do not apply a clear sealer as this may remove or damage the effect.
- Always ensure to cover all surfaces as this product may stain.
